Scholarship Details
Queen’s University Belfast is currently recruiting 20 Early-Stage Researchers (ESRs) through its FORESIGHTERS Doctoral Training Programme. FORESIGHTERS, which stands for Future ORiEnted Skills and Innovation for Governance for Health, Technology, EneRgy, CitieS and Creativity, is a Horizon Europe MSCA COFUND doctoral programme hosted by the university and supported by the European Union alongside the Northern Ireland Department for the Economy.
The programme provides an exceptional platform for emerging research leaders to undertake high-impact doctoral research while receiving advanced academic and professional training. Participants will engage in interdisciplinary research projects and collaborate with a broad network of non-academic partners. In addition to the specialist training offered through the Thomas Moran Graduate School, scholars will develop expertise in futures thinking, innovation, resilience, and strategic planning, equipping them to address complex global challenges across multiple sectors.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the Queen’s University Belfast FORESIGHTERS Scholarship, applicants must:
- Hold a degree equivalent to a UK Upper Second-Class Honours Bachelor’s degree or possess a Master’s degree.
- Demonstrate exceptional potential and strong motivation for futures-focused research.
- Not hold a doctoral degree by the application deadline.
- Not have lived or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the United Kingdom for more than 12 months within the 36 months immediately preceding the application deadline.
- Be eligible to obtain permission to live and work in the United Kingdom before commencing the programme.
