Program Details

Applications are now open for the 2027 British Council 90th Anniversary Fellowship at the University of Edinburgh. The fellowship was established through a partnership between the British Council and the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities (IASH) to commemorate the British Council’s 90th anniversary.

The program is designed to support researchers whose work aligns with the British Council’s vision of building “a more peaceful and prosperous world built on trust.” Selected fellows will become part of a vibrant academic community at IASH while carrying out independent research projects connected to global development, collaboration, and knowledge exchange.

Eligibility Criteria

To be qualified for the British Council 90th Anniversary Fellowship, applicants must:

  • Be from an ODA-recipient country
  • Hold a PhD or possess equivalent research experience
  • Have been awarded a doctorate at the time of application
  • Demonstrate a strong academic and research background
  • Propose an independent research project
  • Be available to stay in Edinburgh during the fellowship period
