Scholarship Details
Tennessee Technological University is inviting applications for a fully funded Master of Science (M.S.) Graduate Assistantship focused on studying how wintering waterfowl respond to Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), commonly known as drones, across the wetlands of the Arkansas Delta.
The research project provides extensive training in wildlife behavior, waterfowl ecology, drone applications, image analysis, quantitative ecology, and collaborative wildlife research. Successful applicants will also have opportunities to present their findings at regional and national scientific conferences while working alongside researchers from multiple universities and state wildlife agencies.
This research is a collaborative effort involving Tennessee Technological University, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC), Clemson University’s James C. Kennedy Waterfowl and Wetlands Conservation Center, and the University of Missouri. The selected student will be jointly supervised by Dr. Allison Keever and Dr. Bradley Cohen.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Tennessee Tech University Scholarship 2026, applicants must:
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in:
- Wildlife Biology
- Ecology
- Natural Resources
- Biology
- Or a closely related field (completed before the programme begins)
- Demonstrate a strong interest in:
- Wildlife ecology
- Waterfowl conservation
- UAS (drone) applications in wildlife research
- Be able to work independently and collaboratively within a research team
- Possess a valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous field research experience (not mandatory)
- Experience with:
- GIS
- R programming
- Drone operations
- Quantitative ecology
