Scholarship Details
Marshall University’s Palmquist Lab is currently seeking applications for a funded Master of Science (MS) position focused on climate change and fire impacts on coastal vegetation. The research project investigates vegetation dynamics across different spatial and temporal scales while examining how ecological processes influence plant communities under changing environmental conditions.
The successful candidate will participate in research exploring the combined effects of sea-level rise, storm surges, and prescribed fire on coastal and pine-dominated vegetation. The study will be conducted on Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island (MCRDPI), a sea island located in South Carolina.
This research contributes to a broader understanding of how global environmental change affects plant communities and ecosystems. The selected student will work closely with faculty mentors while gaining hands-on experience in ecological research, data analysis, and scientific communication.
