Arkansas Tech University is inviting applications for a fully funded Master of Science (M.S.) Graduate Assistantship in Avian Ecology, focusing on long-term population trends of forest birds in the Ozark and Ouachita National Forests.
The research project will examine how bird populations and communities respond to different forest conditions across pine, hardwood, and mixed forest ecosystems. Successful applicants will conduct research on topics such as changes in bird communities over time, the impact of forest management and succession on different bird species, and how bird populations evolve as forests mature, while receiving academic and research training under experienced faculty members.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the Arkansas Tech University Scholarship, applicants must:
- Meet the admission requirements of the Arkansas Tech University Graduate College.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Biology, Ecology, Biology, Natural Resources, or a closely related field.
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

- Hold a valid driver’s licence with a good driving record.
- Be willing to work long hours under challenging field conditions.
