The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has warned candidates intending to register for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) to ensure that their National Identification Number (NIN) details are accurate before creating their registration profiles.
The warning was contained in JAMB’s weekly bulletin obtained from the Board’s website on Monday. JAMB stressed that incorrect NIN information could lead to avoidable complications during both the registration and examination processes.
According to the Board, candidates are strongly advised to verify that their NIN details are correctly captured before initiating profile creation, noting that errors in personal data could create challenges that may be difficult to resolve later.
JAMB stated that registration for the 2026 UTME and DE could commence at any time, urging candidates to use the period to confirm that their personal information is correct and consistent across all relevant databases.
The Board further cautioned that opportunities to correct personal data are limited, largely due to issues often associated with correction windows.
“Candidates are therefore advised to take personal responsibility for the accuracy of their details from the start, as not all requests for corrections may be accommodated,” JAMB warned.
The Board concluded by calling on all candidates to cooperate and comply with the guidelines to ensure a smooth, transparent and hitch-free 2026 UTME and DE registration exercise nationwide.
