The National Examinations Council (NECO) has cautioned the public about fraudulent online platforms claiming to recruit examination supervisors for its upcoming examinations.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Sani Azeez, the Council revealed that the fake websites are asking prospective applicants to submit their academic credentials after making certain payments.
Azeez emphasized that NECO does not charge any fee for teachers seeking to serve as examination supervisors for the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal.
He explained that, following recommendations made by the Ministerial Committee on the Improvement of the Quality of Examinations in Nigeria, the Council has replaced its traditional manual recruitment process with a fully digital system to improve transparency and efficiency.
According to him, qualified pensionable teachers who are on Grade Level 12 and above, are at least 30 years old, and wish to participate as supervisors in the 2026 SSCE Internal examination are expected to submit their applications directly through the official NECO website.
He further clarified that the recruitment exercise is entirely automated and does not require the involvement of any agents, consultants, or third parties.
The Council noted that the new electronic recruitment process is aimed at reducing fraudulent activities, strengthening examination supervision, minimizing examination malpractice, and ensuring a more transparent and credible selection process.
NECO also disclosed that it plans to recruit over 22,000 supervisors for the successful conduct of the 2026 SSCE Internal examination, which is scheduled to begin on June 15, 2026.
