Scholarship Details
Applications are currently being accepted for the 2027 RMIT University Research Scholarships. These scholarships are designed to support exceptional research students pursuing higher degree research programmes at the university. The scholarships include the Research Training Program (RTP), funded by the Australian Government, and the RMIT Research Stipend Scholarship (RRSS), funded by RMIT University.
Applicants who submit an application during one of RMIT’s scholarship rounds will automatically be assessed for all scholarship opportunities for which they are eligible. The programme aims to attract high-achieving researchers from around the world and provide them with the resources needed to conduct impactful research in their chosen fields.
Eligibility Criteria
To be qualified for the RMIT University Scholarship, applicants must:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree requiring at least four years of full-time study in a relevant discipline with honours.
- Have achieved at least a credit average in the final year of study.
- Alternatively, possess a master’s degree that includes a research component equivalent to at least 25% of one full-time academic year.
- Be considered by RMIT to have an equivalent level of academic achievement based on previous studies, research experience, work experience, and publications.
- Not have already completed a graduate research programme at the same or a higher level.
- Not have previously held an RMIT or Commonwealth-funded postgraduate research scholarship unless it was terminated within six months of commencement.
Scholarship Benefits
Successful applicants of the RMIT University Scholarship will receive:
- A living stipend of $36,245 per year (pro rata for full-time study).
- Full tuition fee coverage for the duration of the programme.
- An RTP International Tuition Fee Offset Scholarship (RIFOS) or RMIT Research International Tuition Fee Scholarship (RRITFS) for eligible international students.
- An RTP Fee Offset Scholarship for Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens, and Australian permanent residents.
- A relocation allowance of up to $1,540 for eligible students moving to commence their studies.
- Paid sick leave.
- Paid maternity leave.
- Paid parenting leave.
