Scholarship Details

The North Dakota State University Master’s Scholarship is a fully funded research assistantship under the supervision of Dr. Dillon Fogarty. The research project focuses on investigating the effects of juniper removal on forage production in North Dakota’s Badlands.

The position is hosted by the School of Natural Resource Sciences (SNRS) at North Dakota State University and is funded by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and the North Dakota Natural Resources Trust.

The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary research team comprising graduate students, a postdoctoral researcher, research specialists, and faculty members. In addition to leading all aspects of their thesis research, the selected student will have the opportunity to develop additional research questions related to the project.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the North Dakota State University Master’s Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Possess a strong work ethic.
  • Have a valid driver’s license.
  • Be physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and walking more than 2 miles across rough terrain.
  • Be willing to interact regularly with ranchers and conservation professionals.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Have experience with:
    • Plant identification
    • Vegetation sampling in rangelands
    • Scientific writing
  • Be prepared to provide samples of previous written work if requested during the interview process.
