Kansas State University is offering a fully funded scholarship opportunity for highly motivated students interested in pursuing an M.S. or Ph.D. programme beginning in Fall 2026 or Spring 2027.
The position will be hosted within the Department of Agronomy under the supervision of Dr. Colin Tobin. The research programme focuses on applied rangeland ecology and livestock grazing systems across the Great Plains.
Current and developing research areas include livestock foraging behavior, grazing distribution systems, targeted grazing for invasive species management, precision livestock technologies such as GPS collars and virtual fencing, fire-grazing interactions in grassland ecosystems, and integrated livestock and wildlife interactions on working landscapes.
Selected candidates will be expected to develop independent research projects while also contributing to collaborative field research activities. The programme provides opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration across range science, animal science, ecology, soil science, precision agriculture, and data analytics.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the 2026 Kansas State University Scholarship, applicants must:
- Hold a B.S. degree for M.S. applications or an M.S. degree for Ph.D. applications
- Have a background in range science, animal science, natural resources, ecology, agronomy, wildlife biology, or related disciplines
- Possess strong written and oral communication skills

- Have the ability to work independently and within a research team
