Scholarship Benefits

Successful applicants for the JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship 2027 will receive:

  • Round-trip international airfare (according to JSPS regulations).
  • Monthly stipend:
    • 362,000 JPY per month for researchers with a Ph.D.
    • 200,000 JPY per month for researchers without a Ph.D.
    • The monthly stipend will increase to 362,000 JPY upon successful completion of the Ph.D. during the fellowship.
  • One-time settling-in allowance of 200,000 JPY for fellowships lasting three months or more.
  • Comprehensive overseas travel health insurance.
  • Research support of up to 70,000 JPY per month, administered through the host institution.

Note:

  • Applicants who are already residing in Japan before the fellowship begins will not be eligible to receive the airfare or settling-in allowance.

The fellowship allows successful applicants to undertake research at any of the following:

  • Japanese national universities.
  • Public universities.
  • Private universities.
  • JSPS-recognized research institutes.
