Asia Pacific University (APU) has announced applications for the 2027 Rotary Yoneyama Scholarship for Overseas Candidates.
The Rotary Yoneyama Scholarship is designed for international students who are living outside Japan and are scheduled to enrol in APU’s Graduate School. Applicants seeking both Master’s and Doctoral degrees are eligible to apply.
Applicants are required to apply separately to APU and the Rotary Yoneyama Scholarship organisation. Candidates should carefully review the application and selection procedures for both applications to ensure that all requirements are fulfilled.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the 2027 APU Rotary Yoneyama Scholarship, applicants must:
- Not hold Japanese nationality, including dual nationality.
- Obtain a student visa to enter Japan for study purposes.
- Be residing outside Japan until the beginning of the programme.
- Not have resided in Japan for more than 31 days in total.
- If the applicant stayed in Japan for more than 31 days, the stay must have been due to a qualifying family situation or participation in the Rotary Youth Exchange high school programme, where applicable.
- Have Japanese language proficiency equivalent to JLPT N4 or above.
- Have been born after April 2, 1982.
- Applicants who do not meet certain requirements at the time of application may still apply if they will fulfil the requirements before arriving in Japan.
Scholarship Benefits
The Rotary Yoneyama Scholarship 2027 provides:
- 140,000 JPY per month for Master’s students for up to two years.
- 140,000 JPY per month for Doctoral students for up to two years.
- Economy-class air travel.
- Reimbursement of eligible travel-related expenses of up to 250,000 JPY after arrival in Japan.
How to Apply
To apply for the 2027 APU Rotary Yoneyama Scholarship:
- Request to be considered as a Rotary Yoneyama Scholarship candidate through the APU Online Application System.
- Submit your APU application by October 7, 2026, for April 2027 enrolment.
- Apply directly to the Rotary Yoneyama Scholarship organisation around October 2026.
- Inform the scholarship organisation that the Letter of Recommendation from your desired university will be issued after the application deadline.
- APU will provide a Letter of Recommendation to selected scholarship candidates after the admission results are announced.
- Submit the Letter of Recommendation to the scholarship organisation as required.
