The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) is one of the flagship projects under the African Union’s Agenda 2063: The Africa We Want, a long-term strategy aimed at accelerating economic integration and transforming Africa into a global economic powerhouse.
The AfCFTA Internship Program is designed to attract talented and motivated students from diverse academic backgrounds to support the Secretariat’s strategic and operational activities. Through the programme, interns will contribute to projects aligned with the Secretariat’s objectives while gaining valuable practical experience in an international and multicultural work environment.
The internship provides participants with an opportunity to strengthen their analytical, technical, and professional skills while gaining first-hand experience working with one of Africa’s most significant economic integration initiatives.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the African Union AfCFTA Internship Program, applicants must:
- Be a national of an African Union Member State.
- Be residing in Ghana.
- Be a final-year student enrolled full-time in a recognized public or private higher institution.
- Be studying Interpretation and/or Translation.
- Be available for a minimum period of three months.
- Be proficient in one of the African Union’s official working languages (English, French, Portuguese, Arabic, Kiswahili, or Spanish). Knowledge of an additional AU language is an added advantage.
- Possess strong quantitative and analytical skills.
- Have good ICT skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Be capable of working effectively in a multicultural and international environment.
- Demonstrate commitment to the values and regulations of the African Union throughout the internship period.
- Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
