Scholarship Details

The Native Bee Lab, located within the Auburn University Bee Center, is seeking a highly motivated Master’s student to join a fully funded research project focused on pollinator conservation and habitat restoration across the southeastern United States. Funded by the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT), the project will investigate effective strategies for establishing and managing native wildflower habitats along roadsides to support native pollinator populations.

The successful applicant will examine how vegetation management practices, including selective herbicide use and habitat restoration techniques, influence wildflower establishment, plant diversity, and native bee communities. The research aims to generate science-based recommendations that improve roadside biodiversity while supporting transportation safety and infrastructure management.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Auburn University Graduate Assistantship, applicants must:

  • Hold an undergraduate degree in:
    • Biology
    • Ecology
    • Entomology
    • Botany
    • Or another closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Meet the eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications

Applicants with the following qualifications will have an added advantage:

  • Experience conducting native pollinator research.
  • Knowledge of native plant identification.
  • Experience identifying native bee species.
