Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the Government of New Zealand Manaaki Scholarship 2026, applicants must:
- Be 18 years or older at the start of the scholarship
- Meet both the academic entry requirements and English language requirements set by the chosen institution
- For postgraduate applicants (or those who completed high school more than three years ago), possess relevant work experience as follows:
- One year of full-time work experience (minimum 30 hours per week), OR
- Two years of part-time work experience (up to 29 hours per week)
- Demonstrate that their proposed study aligns with their country’s development priorities
Scholarship Benefits
Recipients of the Manaaki New Zealand Scholarship will receive:
- Full tuition fees coverage
- Weekly living allowance of NZ$531 (approximately NZ$25,448 per year)
- Establishment allowance of NZ$3,000 to cover initial setup costs
- Comprehensive medical insurance during stay in New Zealand
- Tutoring support up to NZ$1,000 (if required)
- Round-trip travel costs from home country to New Zealand
- Travel insurance
- Family visit travel support (for scholarships longer than 1.6 years, subject to conditions)
- Reintegration allowance of NZ$1,000 upon return home
- Research and thesis support for many postgraduate students
