The Federal Government has reopened all 47 Unity Colleges earlier closed due to insecurity, reaffirming its commitment to protecting students and ensuring uninterrupted access to education nationwide.

The Director of Press and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Education, Mrs Folasade Boriowo, disclosed this in a press statement on Thursday, noting that academic activities have fully resumed following the strengthening of security within and around the affected schools.

According to the statement, students have returned safely to their campuses, with many currently concluding their December academic programmes, while others have successfully completed their examinations.

Boriowo assured parents, guardians, and the general public that the safety, welfare, and well-being of students remain a top priority for the government. She added that the Ministry is working closely with relevant security agencies to sustain stability and restore normalcy across school environments nationwide.

“The Federal Government remains resolute in its responsibility to protect every Nigerian child and uphold their fundamental right to education in a safe and secure environment,” the statement read.

The Ministry emphasised that the administration places strong importance on human capital development and recognises education as a critical pillar for national growth and development. It stressed that preventing disruptions to the academic calendar remains a key priority.

“The safe return of students and the successful conduct of examinations in several Unity Colleges underscore the Government’s resolve to keep learning on track despite prevailing challenges,” the statement added.

The Federal Ministry of Education also expressed appreciation to parents, school administrators, and students for their cooperation and patience, reiterating its commitment to sustaining a secure, stable, and uninterrupted education system across the country.
