Fellowship Details
Applications are currently ongoing for the 2026/2027 University of Toronto Dalla Lana School of Public Health Women in Global Health Leadership Fellowship.
The fellowship was developed through a collaboration between the University of Toronto Dalla Lana School of Public Health in Canada, the Moi University School of Public Health in Kenya, and the University of Cape Town School of Public Health in South Africa, with support from the Mastercard Foundation.
The 12-month hybrid fellowship is aimed at empowering African women in public health through leadership development, mentorship, policy engagement, and gender equity training. Participants will gain practical leadership experience and receive support to develop impactful leadership projects within their communities and institutions.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Women in Global Health Leadership Fellowship, applicants must:
- Identify as a woman
- Be an early to mid-career professional with 5–15 years of experience in public health, local, regional, or global health work
- Possess postgraduate education in Public Health, Health Policy, Health Sciences, or related fields
- Work in public health policy, teaching, practice, or research
- Demonstrate leadership qualities through work, education, or community service
- Be residing and working in Kenya or South Africa
- Be an African national
- Be fluent in English
- Be available to attend a one-week in-person leadership academy in Kenya in early 2027
- Be able to obtain a valid international passport
Fellowship Benefits
Successful applicants for the Women in Global Health Leadership Fellowship will receive:

Step 1: Expression of Interest (EOI)
- Interested applicants are required to complete the online EOI form
- The process takes approximately 15–20 minutes
- EOI Deadline: May 22, 2026
Step 2: Full Application (By Invitation Only)
- Applicants who meet the eligibility and selection requirements will be invited to submit a full application
- The final 18 fellows for the 2026/2027 cohort will be selected from this stage
- The deadline for full applications is expected to be late June or early July 2026
