The Kwara State Government has issued a stern warning to principals and head teachers over the illegal collection of fees related to the upcoming Common Entrance (Placement) Examination scheduled for July 26, 2025, into Junior Secondary Schools across the state.

This warning was issued by the State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, in a statement made available to The PUNCH on Thursday by Peter Amogbonjaye, Press Secretary of the Ministry.

According to the commissioner, the caution follows the state governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s approval of full government sponsorship for the placement examination. He emphasized that the exercise is free for all eligible pupils.

Dr. Olohungbebe stressed that any school head found extorting pupils or parents in the name of the exam would be sanctioned. The statement read, “The Commissioner expressed appreciation to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for the full sponsorship of the examination and warned that any principal or head teacher found collecting illegal fees from pupils will face the full weight of the law.”

He also confirmed that the examination will take place at designated centres across the 16 Local Government Areas of the state, starting at 8 a.m.

The commissioner called on pupils, parents, and school administrators to strictly adhere to the examination guidelines and expressed confidence that all necessary logistics have been put in place to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the test.
