The University of Ibadan (UI) has launched its eCampus platform, creating a new avenue for students to pursue postgraduate education fully online.
The initiative is being developed in partnership with Astria Learning, an international education technology company, following a Memorandum of Understanding signed by both organisations in May 2026.
The partnership is designed to expand access to the university’s accredited postgraduate programmes to learners across Nigeria, Africa and the diaspora, without requiring students to relocate to the university’s physical campus.
The first cohort under the UI eCampus model was scheduled to commence in August 2026, marking a significant step in the university’s efforts to expand its digital learning offerings.
The new platform is already hosting information on programmes and admissions, with prospective students able to access programme materials and prospectuses through the dedicated eCampus portal.
One of the programmes currently featured on the platform is the Professional Master of Information Resources Management (MIRM), with applicants directed to the eCampus portal for further information.
The eCampus initiative is expected to provide greater flexibility for working professionals and other learners who may be unable to attend conventional on-campus programmes.
The development also represents an expansion of UI’s existing digital education efforts. The university already operates a Distance Learning Centre, which provides online learning services to students through its digital platforms.
According to information on the dedicated UI eCampus website, the platform is operated in partnership with Astria Learning and includes provisions covering student enrolment, payments, technical support and other aspects of online programme delivery.
With the introduction of the eCampus, the University of Ibadan is positioning itself to reach a broader population of learners beyond its physical campus and strengthen its presence in the rapidly expanding digital higher education sector.
