New NANS President, Vice President Promise Expanded Opportunities and Better Welfare for Students

The newly elected President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, alongside the Vice President for External Affairs, Comrade Sadiq Zango, has pledged to prioritise the welfare of Nigerian students and create more opportunities for them across different sectors.

This was contained in a statement signed by Vice President Sadiq Zango, where the new leadership reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening institutional structures within NANS and improving engagement with stakeholders both locally and internationally.

According to the statement, the administration is focused on expanding opportunities available to Nigerian students while building a more effective and coordinated advocacy system capable of addressing students’ concerns and advancing their interests.

The statement described the emergence of Akinteye and Zango as a fresh mandate for purposeful leadership, institutional stability, and the strategic repositioning of the Nigerian student movement toward greater national and international relevance.

It further noted that both leaders are widely recognised for their active involvement in student representation, youth advocacy, organisational development, and constructive engagement within the education sector.

The statement highlighted that their leadership experience and strategic orientation played a major role in earning the confidence of delegates during the election process.

It also expressed optimism among stakeholders within the education and youth development sectors that the new administration would usher in a more united, strategic, and result-oriented era for Nigerian students.

According to the statement, the emergence of the new leadership represents a significant transition toward stronger institutional continuity, improved representation, and more effective advocacy for students nationwide.

The newly elected leaders also appreciated stakeholders, supporters, allies, and mobilisation teams whose contributions and support were instrumental to the successful conduct of the convention and election process.
