The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that major decisions regarding admission cut-off marks and guidelines for the 2026/2027 academic session will be finalized on May 11 at its annual policy meeting.

This was disclosed by JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, in a statement released on Sunday. He noted that the high-level meeting will be held in Abuja at the Body of Benchers Auditorium, bringing together key stakeholders in Nigeria’s tertiary education sector.

According to him, the annual policy meeting serves as a central platform for reviewing admission processes, setting the minimum acceptable UTME scores, and establishing guidelines that will govern admissions for the upcoming academic year.

He further revealed that the Minister of Education, Olatunji Alausa, is expected to make significant policy announcements that will shape the direction of the 2026 admission exercise.

Benjamin emphasized that the meeting remains a critical avenue where stakeholders collectively determine admission benchmarks and ensure alignment across institutions nationwide. He added that strict adherence to established admission procedures will also be a key focus.

The meeting will be attended by top academic and administrative leaders, including vice-chancellors, rectors, provosts, registrars, and admission officers from universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education across Nigeria.

Regulatory bodies such as the National Universities Commission (NUC), the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) are also expected to be represented.

In addition, other stakeholders like the Nigerian Education Loan Fund and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), along with partner organizations in the education sector, will deliver goodwill messages during the event.

The JAMB spokesperson added that the meeting will also feature the sixth edition of the National Tertiary Admissions Performance-Merit Awards, an initiative aimed at promoting transparency, compliance with admission regulations, and improved standards within Nigeria’s tertiary education system.
