Scholarship Details
The University of Westminster Sanctuary Scholarship supports students who are seeking asylum or have refugee status and are living in the United Kingdom but are unable to access postgraduate financial support from Student Finance.
The scholarship is designed to help eligible students pursue a full-time master’s degree at the University of Westminster and overcome financial barriers to postgraduate education.

Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the University of Westminster Postgraduate Sanctuary Scholarship 2027, applicants must:
- Have an offer from the University of Westminster for a place on a full-time Master’s course starting in January 2027.
- Be resident in the United Kingdom.
- Hold one of the following eligible immigration statuses before submitting the scholarship application:
- UK asylum seeker
- UK discretionary leave to remain as a result of an asylum application
- UK limited leave to remain as a result of an asylum application
- UK refugee status
- Not already hold a Master’s degree.
- Be unable to receive taught postgraduate student loans from Student Finance.
The following programmes are not eligible for the scholarship:
- Postgraduate Diploma
- Professional courses such as RIBA Part III, ACCA, CIMA, and CILEX
- Conversion courses such as the Graduate Diploma in Law
- Integrated Master’s/MPhil programmes
Scholarship Benefits
Successful recipients of the University of Westminster Sanctuary Scholarship will receive:
- Full tuition fee waiver for the eligible Master’s programme.
- £1,000 monthly living stipend for up to 12 months.
