Scholarship Details

The University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) established this scholarship to attract international students and young researchers from around the world for advanced study and research. The scholarship offers two categories of awards; full and partial scholarships.

  • The full scholarship covers tuition waiver, application fee waiver, monthly stipend, basic accommodation, and medical insurance.
  • The partial scholarship covers selected benefits from the above package.

This initiative also encourages international graduate students already enrolled in foreign universities to come to China for joint programs or short-term academic exchange.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Not hold Chinese citizenship and possess a valid foreign passport.
  • Be friendly to China, law-abiding, and adhere to UCAS rules and regulations.
  • Be proficient in English or Chinese.
  • For PhD program applicants: be born after January 1, 1991 (inclusive).
  • For Master’s program applicants: be born after January 1, 1996 (inclusive).
  • For Senior visiting students: be born after January 1, 1981 (inclusive).
  • For Regular visiting students: be born after January 1, 1986 (inclusive).
  • For joint program applicants: no age limitation applies.
  • Meet the admission requirements for international students of UCAS (refer to Calls for 2026 Programs for International Students).
  • Not hold any other scholarship or assignments during the study period.

Scholarship Benefits

Successful candidates of the UCAS Scholarship 2026 will enjoy:

  • Tuition Waiver:
    • PhD students are exempted from tuition fees of RMB 40,000/year.
    • Master’s students are exempted from tuition fees of RMB 30,000/year.
  • Monthly Stipend:
    • PhD students receive a minimum of RMB 3500 per month.
    • Master’s students receive a minimum of RMB 3000 per month.
    • Additional research assistantship support may be provided based on performance.
  • Accommodation: Basic on-campus housing is provided by UCAS faculties/institutes located in Beijing.
  • Medical Insurance: Coverage worth RMB 800 per year.
  • Application Fee Waiver: Students are exempted from the processing fee of RMB 600.
  • Duration: The scholarship is valid for up to 36 months (no extension).

For partial scholarship holders, coverage includes selected benefits such as tuition, accommodation, and application fee waiver, with a duration of 6 to 36 months depending on the program type.
