The Thurgood Marshall College Fund is one of the leading organizations dedicated to supporting students attending publicly funded Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Predominantly Black Institutions (PBIs), medical schools, law schools, and community colleges across the United States.

Since its establishment, the organization has distributed hundreds of millions of dollars in scholarships and educational support.

According to TMCF, more than $21 million in scholarship funding was awarded to 2,718 scholars during the 2024–2025 academic year, demonstrating its continued commitment to expanding educational access and student success.

Eligibility Criteria

To be qualified for the TMCF Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be a full-time undergraduate student (freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior) enrolled at a TMCF member institution during the 2026–2027 academic year.

OR

  • Be enrolled either full-time or part-time in a graduate-level program at an accredited post-secondary institution.

OR

  • Be enrolled full-time or part-time at an accredited post-secondary institution or continuing education program.
  • Attend one of the following:
    • Two-year post-secondary institutions.
    • Four-year post-secondary institutions.
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75.
  • Have the 2026–2027 FAFSA on file at their institution before scholarship selection.
  • Demonstrate financial need.
  • Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident with a valid permanent resident card or an I-551 passport stamp.

Successful applicants of the TMCF Scholarship will receive:

    • Up to $10,000 for students enrolled full-time or part-time in graduate-level programs.

    • Up to $9,600 for undergraduate freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

    • Up to $50,000 for full-time or part-time graduate students.
  • TMCF | Ivy Beauty Scholarship
    • Up to $4,100 for undergraduate freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors.
  • TMCF | Keith R. Johnson Memorial Scholarship
    • Up to $10,625 for undergraduate students or graduate/professional students studying at least part-time.
  • TMCF | Lowe’s Gap Scholarship
    • Up to $5,000 for undergraduate freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors.
