The scholarship applies to degree programs within the Faculty of Science & Engineering and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Successful candidates will receive a full tuition fee waiver alongside maintenance support, which includes a non-repayable bursary of £1,700 and a living cost grant equivalent to student loan provisions—£8,877 for those living at home and £13,762 for those living independently. This funding is valid for the normal duration of the course, while additional funding requests (such as for repeated years or course changes) may be reviewed individually by the scholarship panel.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the Queen Mary University of London Sanctuary Scholarship, applicants must:
- Have a temporary immigration status resulting from an asylum claim (e.g., limited leave to remain, discretionary leave, or humanitarian protection); or
- Be an asylum seeker or a child of an asylum seeker;
- Be ineligible for funding from the Student Loan Company due to immigration status;
- Have submitted a UCAS application for an undergraduate program in the Faculty of Science & Engineering or Humanities and Social Sciences by January 14, 2026;
- Have received a conditional or unconditional offer from Queen Mary University of London;
- Not already possess an equivalent or higher qualification.
