Fellowship Details
The Australian Research Council (ARC) Future Fellowships reflect the Australian Government’s commitment to research excellence by supporting outstanding mid-career researchers to undertake high-quality research that provides significant benefits to Australia and the international research community.
The programme aims to support researchers with demonstrated capacity for high-quality research, leadership, research training, supervision, and mentoring.
Future Fellowships also seek to strengthen national and international research collaboration, encourage innovative research that addresses significant problems or knowledge gaps, and support the recruitment and retention of outstanding researchers by Australian universities.
The programme encourages applications from researchers working in areas of national priority and research that can create new or advanced knowledge with economic, commercial, environmental, social, and cultural benefits.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the ARC Future Fellowship 2027, applicants should carefully review the official FT27 guidelines and meet the following requirements:
- Hold a PhD or equivalent research higher degree.
- For FT27, the PhD award date must fall between March 1, 2012 and March 1, 2022, unless eligible career interruptions extend the period.
- Demonstrate a strong record of research.
- Provide evidence of research leadership, training, supervision, or mentoring appropriate to the Future Fellowship level.
- Demonstrate the capacity to develop national and international research collaborations.
- Apply through an eligible Australian administering organisation.
- A person nominated for a Future Fellowship on three previous occasions cannot submit another application during the eligible period.

Successful Future Fellowship recipients will receive:
