Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the Beijing Foreign Studies University Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be a non-Chinese citizen.
  • Be friendly towards China and be in good physical and mental health.

Academic Background & Age Requirements

  • Bachelor’s applicants: High school graduate or equivalent, under 25 years old.
  • Master’s applicants: Bachelor’s degree holder or equivalent, under 35 years old.
  • Doctoral applicants: Master’s degree holder or equivalent, under 40 years old.
  • Foundation programme applicants: High school graduate or equivalent with pre-admission notice, under 24 years old.
  • Visiting or exchange students: Bachelor’s degree holder or current undergraduate/postgraduate student, under 45 years old.
  • Visiting scholars: Master’s degree or above, or associate professor title (or higher), under 50 years old.

Language & Academic Requirements

  • For Chinese-taught programmes:
    • Foundation and visiting programmes: Minimum HSK Level 3.
    • Degree programmes: Minimum HSK Level 4.
  • For foreign language-taught programmes:
    • Meet the language requirements specified by the relevant faculty.
  • Have a minimum academic average of 80/100 or GPA 3.0.
  • Current students must have an average score of at least 80 in the previous academic year.
