The Kentucky State University School of Aquaculture and Aquatic Science (SAAS) is inviting applications for a Master of Science (M.S.) graduate research assistantship scheduled to commence in Fall 2026. The selected student will join the research team in Dr. Patrick Erbland’s laboratory and participate in an innovative project focused on aquaculture technology.

The research will involve observing fish behavior to estimate appetite levels and designing a prototype feeding system capable of automatically dispensing food based on those estimates. The project will utilize affordable sensing technologies such as video, audio, and motion-based systems to improve feeding efficiency in aquaculture operations.

In addition to conducting research, the successful candidate will be required to satisfy all graduate school requirements at Kentucky State University and contribute to other activities within the School of Aquaculture and Aquatic Science.

Eligibility Criteria
