Scholarship Details
The Opekete Foundation is pleased to introduce the 2026 Florence Bamidele Makanjuola Scholarship, an initiative designed to support aspiring nurses and future educators in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). This scholarship reflects the foundation’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of professionals in education and healthcare by providing financial assistance that enables them to thrive academically and contribute meaningfully to society.
Established in honour of the late Mrs. Florence Bamidele Makanjuola, a dedicated teacher and nurse, the foundation seeks to preserve her legacy of service, passion for education, and advocacy for female independence. During her lifetime, she expressed concern about the declining quality of education and teaching standards. To continue her vision, her family established this scholarship through the Florence Fund, ensuring that her dream of empowering young Nigerians lives on.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Florence Bamidele Makanjuola Scholarship, applicants must:
- Be a female Nigerian citizen
- Have gained admission or be currently enrolled in a public university or senior secondary school
- Be attending or planning to attend a public or federal government-owned institution
- Be willing to study STEM-related courses or Nursing (for university applicants)
Academic Qualifications
Secondary School Applicants:
- Minimum of 5 distinctions (A or B) in English, Mathematics, and three other major subjects in Junior WAEC
University Applicants:
- Minimum of 5 distinctions (A1–B3) in English, Mathematics, and three other core subjects in WAEC/NECO (one sitting)
- Must meet the required JAMB cut-off mark for chosen course and institution
Scholarship Benefits
Successful applicants of the Florence Bamidele Makanjuola Scholarship will receive:
- Secondary School Students:
- Up to ₦350,000 per year
- University Students:
- Up to ₦650,000 per year
