Scholarship Details
The University of Georgia Masters Scholarship is a fully funded graduate research assistantship based at the Whitehall Deer Research Facility located on the main campus of UGA in Athens, Georgia. The project is a collaborative research effort involving experts from the Deer Laboratory in the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources (led by Dr. Marcelo Jorge), the Southeastern Cooperative Wildlife Disease Study (Dr. Mark Ruder), and additional collaboration with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (Dr. Emily Latch).
The research focuses on wildlife biology, particularly white-tailed deer, genetics, and disease studies. In addition to research responsibilities, selected candidates may also support outreach and extension activities as part of the programme.
Eligibility Criteria
To be qualified for the University of Georgia Scholarship, applicants must:
- Demonstrate interest in:
- Wildlife biology
- White-tailed deer research
- Genetics and/or disease studies
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in:
- Wildlife biology and management
- Pre-Veterinary (Pre-Vet) track
- Or related fields
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.0
- Be comfortable with:
- Computer-based work
- Statistical analysis
- R programming skills (or willingness to develop them)
