The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced an extension of the application deadline for student loans for the 2025/2026 academic session. The new deadline has been moved from January 31, 2026, to February 27, 2026, allowing applicants additional time to complete and submit their applications.
According to a statement signed by the Director of Strategic Communications, Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, the extension was approved to prevent eligible students from missing out on the scheme due to delays or challenges encountered during the application process.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NELFUND, Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr, explained that the decision aligns with the Fund’s core values of fairness and accessibility. He noted that the adjustment was made to accommodate applicants who may need more time to finalize their submissions, ensuring equal opportunity for all qualified Nigerian students.
NELFUND urged students who are yet to apply, as well as those with pending applications, to make use of the extended window and ensure all required information is submitted on or before February 27, 2026.
The Fund also assured the public that any additional information or updates would be shared through its official communication channels. Applicants were advised to seek information only from verified platforms and direct inquiries to NELFUND via its official Gmail address or recognized social media handles.
