The LSHTM/Nagasaki University Joint Global Health Scholarship provides full funding, including tuition fees and a generous living stipend of ¥200,000 per month, to support selected PhD candidates pursuing advanced research in global health.

Scholarship Details
Nagasaki University is internationally recognised for its extensive research and expertise in infectious diseases and has maintained a long-standing collaborative relationship with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the LSHTM/Nagasaki University Joint Global Health Scholarship, applicants must:
- Satisfy the normal entrance requirements for doctoral registration
- Possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications:
- A Master’s degree in a subject relevant to the proposed course of study (recommended)
- A professional qualification in medicine, dentistry, or veterinary studies relevant to the programme
- An upper second-class honours degree from a UK or Japanese university, or an overseas equivalent, in a relevant field
- Demonstrate clear aptitude for academic and applied research
- Show the ability to work effectively in multicultural and interdisciplinary teams, including collaboration with colleagues in Japan
- Meet the required English language proficiency standards
Scholarship Benefits
Successful applicants for the LSHTM/Nagasaki University Joint Global Health Scholarship will receive:
- Full tuition fee coverage
- A research grant of up to JPY 2,000,000 per year for the first two years (with a possible one-year extension), paid to the supervisory team by Nagasaki University to support PhD research costs
- A monthly living stipend of at least JPY 200,000 for the top two or three candidates, provided for the first two years with a potential one-year extension
- The same stipend rate regardless of whether the student is based in Nagasaki or London
