Scholarship Details
The University of Arkansas Monticello Graduate Research Assistantship is a fully funded academic position in Environmental Dynamics. The selected student will conduct independent research based on their interests and join a collaborative research team across the University of Arkansas System.
Research themes include:
- How landscape changes influence waterfowl distribution
- Movement patterns and identification of important wildlife corridors
- Impact of clean energy development on waterfowl behavior
- Seasonal habitat selection and distribution modeling
- Wetland habitat design to support sustainable waterfowl populations
The GRA will work with interdisciplinary researchers and external partners such as:
- The Lower Mississippi Valley Joint Venture
- U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify, applicants must:
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree with relevant research experience or a Master’s degree in:
- Ecology
- Wildlife Science
- Geospatial Sciences
- Ecological Modeling
- Landscape Ecology
- Or related fields
- Demonstrate quantitative and GIS proficiency (R, Python, spatial analysis)
- Show strong scientific writing and communication skills
- Be willing to engage in occasional fieldwork and teamwork
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with animal movement data (Telemetry/GPS, step-selection, recursion/UDs)
- Background in habitat/species distribution modeling
- Familiarity with remote sensing or landscape change studies
- Record of peer-reviewed publications or conference presentations
Scholarship Benefits

- Eligibility for additional 4-year doctoral fellowships:
