Program Details
The Nigerian Women Trust Fund (NWTF) invites eligible women-focused organizations to apply for its 2026 Grant for Strengthening Institutions, Women’s Voices, Rights, and Ending Violence Against Women and Girls. This sixth edition of the grant continues NWTF’s impactful mission to support organizations working across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
The initiative is structured to empower women-led groups by enhancing their institutional capacity, supporting leadership development, and enabling strategic interventions that address gender-based violence. Through this program, NWTF reinforces its long-standing commitment to promoting gender equality, amplifying women’s voices, and fostering long-term, sustainable social change within Nigerian communities.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the NWTF Grant, applicants must:
- Be gender-focused, with most staff and board members being women
- Be a registered local NGO or CBO operating in Nigeria for at least two years
- Demonstrate functional administrative, financial, and human resource systems
- Have a clear organizational structure and proven capacity for project implementation
- Present innovative, practical project ideas with a well-defined target audience
NWTF strongly encourages applications from:
- Women-led organizations
- Organizations led by or serving Persons with Disabilities (PWDs)
- Groups located in hard-to-reach or underserved communities
Note: Proposals connected to political parties, electoral campaigns, government agencies, scholarships, profit-driven ventures, or religious conversion will not be considered.
Program Benefits
Successful applicants will receive support to implement projects that:
- Strengthen the capacity and effectiveness of women-led and women-focused organizations through leadership support, mentorship, and institutional development
- Promote understanding and practice of women’s leadership and inclusion in communities
- Advocate for policy reforms and challenge harmful cultural norms that undermine women’s rights
