The AfDB Internship Program is designed to support the Bank’s mission of reducing poverty and promoting inclusive and sustainable economic growth across Africa. The internship aligns with the AfDB Ten-Year Strategy (2023–2032), which focuses on five key development priorities: expanding energy access, boosting agricultural productivity, promoting industrialization, improving integration, and enhancing the quality of life for individuals across the continent.
The internship is part of the Bank’s Talent Management Framework, which aims to build a strong talent pipeline that contributes to the successful implementation of the Bank’s strategic priorities and the High 5s Agenda.
Interns are selected competitively and placed based on the recruitment needs of different departments within the Bank.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the African Development Bank Internship Program, applicants must:
- Be at least the legal adult age in their home country and not older than 30 years at the start of the internship
- Be a national of a member country of the African Development Bank
- Be currently enrolled in a Master’s degree program at a recognized institution
- Or have completed a Master’s degree within the past 1 year
- Provide a letter of enrollment or copy of degree certificate from their institution
- Be fluent in at least one working language of the Bank (English or French)
- Be able to use basic software tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access (knowledge of SAP is considered an advantage)
