Scholarship Details

The ENS International Selection Competition is conducted in two stages:

  • Stage 1: Selection based on application review.
  • Stage 2: Oral and written exams (for Arts & Humanities) or oral exams only (for Sciences) for shortlisted candidates.

ENS offers 10 positions in Sciences and 10 positions in Arts & Humanities each year. The program seeks to attract diverse, high-achieving students from around the world to join in the 3rd year of a Bachelor’s degree (Licence 3) or the 1st year of a Master’s degree (Master 1).

The competition is open to young graduates in Arts & Humanities and Sciences who have completed at least one year of undergraduate study at a foreign university and have demonstrated outstanding academic results.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the ENS France Scholarships 2026, applicants must:

  • Be under 26 years old at the time of application (must not have reached their 26th birthday).
  • Apply only once to the International Selection.
  • Have not lived in France for more than 10 months during the current or previous academic year (September 1 – August 31).
  • Have completed at least one year of undergraduate studies at a university outside France during the calendar year preceding the start of the application.
  • Have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a foreign university by September 1 following admission.

Scholarship Benefits

Successful applicants of this scholarship will receive:

  • 10 positions in Sciences and 10 positions in Arts & Humanities.
  • Monthly stipend: €1,000 for three years.
  • Accommodation: A room on one of the ENS campuses.

Additional Notes

  • Applications are reviewed according to the official calendar.
  • Once your file is complete, it will be submitted to the jury for consideration.
  • If shortlisted, you will be invited to take written and/or oral exams remotely.
  • The final admission list is determined by the marks obtained during the examination.
  • Applicants interested in the Department of Cognitive Studies (DEC) may apply through either the Science or Arts & Humanities tracks. However, all candidates are advised to contact the DEC to determine which path aligns best with their academic background.

  • Complete and validate the initial application form at: https://candidatures.ens.psl.eu/
  • Within two days, applicants will receive an activation email to create an account on Dematec, the application platform for uploading documents in PDF format.
  • Once the file is complete on Dematec, it will be submitted to the jury.
  • If shortlisted, applicants will be invited to participate in remote written and oral examinations.
  • Final selection will be based on performance in the examinations.
