Internship Details
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) through its Information and Technology Management (ITM) Unit in Copenhagen, supports UNDP Country Offices across the world with innovative ICT and Green Energy Solutions.
The UNDP is currently seeking People Development Interns who possess skills and knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Onboarding and People Management Development, Leadership Development, Capability Development, Career Development, Data and Knowledge Management, Evaluation, and Communication.
As the development arm of the United Nations, UNDP operates in over 170 countries with a workforce of more than 17,000 people, tackling global challenges such as poverty eradication, climate change, renewable energy, good governance, crisis prevention, and gender equality.
Available Workstreams
Applicants may apply for up to two internship positions based on their interests and expertise. Available roles include:
- Onboarding & People Management Intern
- Leadership Development Intern
- Capability Development Intern
- Career Development Intern
- Communication Intern
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the UNDP Global Internship 2026, candidates must meet one of the following educational criteria:
- Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or
- Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (undergraduate; minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent); or
- Have recently graduated with a university degree (first or second degree) and, if selected, must commence the internship within one year of graduation.
Additional Requirements:
- Demonstrated interest or experience in one of the workstream areas is desirable.
Internship Duration and Benefits
- Duration: 6 months (from February 2 to July 31, 2026)
- Monthly Stipend: Approximately $1,000 per month (based on duty location; Copenhagen standard)
- Payment Frequency: Stipends are paid monthly, and part-time arrangements are prorated accordingly.
Required Competencies for UNDP Internship
Core Competencies:
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Strong collaboration and teamwork abilities.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills.
Desired Skills:
- Strong IT proficiency and excellent knowledge of office software tools (Microsoft Office Suite: PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps).
- Fluency in English (required); good working knowledge of French and/or Spanish is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of graphic and software design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Illustrator, InDesign) is considered an asset.
