Scholarship Details

The Queensland University of Technology Graduate Scholarship is focused on a PhD program exploring quantum transport in mixed ionic-electronic conductors (OMIECs). This is an experimental research project supervised by A/Prof Soniya Yambem (Primary Supervisor), Dr Mahboobeh Shahbazi (Associate Supervisor), and Dr Wendy Purches (External Supervisor, CSIRO).

The project investigates transport phenomena in OMIECs, a special class of materials capable of conducting both electronic charge carriers and mobile ions under different conditions. Students admitted under this scholarship will work closely with leading researchers, gain access to state-of-the-art research facilities, and contribute to advancing knowledge in physics, materials science, and nanotechnology.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the QUT Graduate Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Meet the entry requirements for a QUT research degree (including English language requirements if applicable)
  • Enrol as a full-time, internal student (unless part-time or external study is approved)
  • Commence studies by 1 March 2026
  • Have an academic background in one or more of the following fields:
    • Physics
    • Materials Science
    • Nanotechnology
    • Electronic Engineering
  • Possess a strong understanding of semiconductor physics and devices

Scholarship Benefits

Successful recipients of the Queensland University of Technology Graduate Scholarship will receive:

  • Stipend: $40,000 per year (tax-exempt, indexed annually) for up to 3.5 years, with the possibility of a 6-month extension
  • Tuition Fee Coverage: Full tuition sponsorship for up to four years of PhD study
