The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has successfully completed at least 687 capital projects in tertiary institutions across Nigeria within the past two years.
The Executive Secretary of TETFund, Mr. Sonny Echono, revealed this on Friday during the foundation-laying ceremony for a new N4 billion Senate Building at the Federal University, Kashere (FUK).
Echono explained that these projects align with President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s vision of enhancing the quality of tertiary education through significant infrastructural development.
He noted that the President approved the Senate building project at FUK as part of his administration’s strategic investments in higher education.
“TETFund remains steadfast in its commitment to equipping institutions like FUK with the resources needed for growth and excellence. In just the past two and a half years, we have completed and commissioned 687 capital projects across various universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education nationwide,” Echono said.
Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor of FUK, Prof. Umaru Pate, praised TETFund for its support, revealing that the postgraduate hostel building at the university was completed under the 2022 TETFund annual intervention.
Prof. Pate also highlighted other completed projects, including a 500-capacity lecture theatre and the construction and furnishing of the College of Medical Sciences Complex, among other interventions facilitated by TETFund.
Representing President Tinubu at the event, Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Ali Pate, laid the foundation stone for the new Senate building and reiterated the government’s commitment to expanding access to quality higher education across the country.
He emphasized that universities not only foster academic excellence but also play a vital role as drivers of socio-economic development in Nigeria.
