Scholarship Details
The University of Ghana DAAD Scholarship is now open for Master’s scholarship applications for the 2026 academic session at the West Africa Centre for Crop Improvement (WACCI), University of Ghana. The program is designed for students pursuing a Master of Philosophy in Seed Science and Technology.
In collaboration with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), WACCI will award up to 3 In-Country and 6 In-Region scholarships for Master’s studies. These scholarships aim to strengthen higher education capacity across Africa by supporting qualified students from Sub-Saharan countries.
Applications are now invited from interested and eligible candidates for the 2025/2026 academic year.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the University of Ghana DAAD Scholarship, applicants must:
- Hold a first academic degree (minimum of a three-year university degree) with above-average results (at least Second Class Upper Division or equivalent).
- Demonstrate motivation, leadership potential, and commitment to the program.
- Possess thorough knowledge of the language of instruction.
- Have completed their last university degree not more than six years ago at the time of application.
- Be nationals or permanent residents of a Sub-Saharan African country.
- Be one of the following:
a) Staff member of a public university
b) Candidate under consideration for teaching or research staff recruitment
c) Individual from the public sector
d) Alumni of the DAFI programme
Female applicants, recognized refugees, and candidates from disadvantaged regions or groups are strongly encouraged to apply.
Note: Applicants who have previously received a Master’s scholarship from DAAD are not eligible for another Master’s award.
Scholarship Benefits
The scholarship provides comprehensive financial support including:
- Full Tuition Fees (annually)
- Study and Research Allowance: €460 per year
- Printing Allowance: Once at the end of the program
- Monthly Living Stipend:
- €500 (PhD In-Country)
- €550 (PhD In-Region)
- Travel Allowance: For In-Region scholars (beginning and end of scholarship)
- Health Insurance: For In-Region scholars
Additionally, DAAD In-Country/In-Region scholarship holders in research-based Master’s programs may apply for a short-term research stay in Germany (3 to 6 months) to enhance their academic and research experience.

- Log in and carefully read all the application instructions provided.
- Complete and submit a full application for the program through the portal.
- Ensure all documents meet DAAD requirements before submission. Incomplete or non-compliant applications will not be considered.
- Submit your application via the DAAD Portal on or before November 21, 2024.
- Note that the DAAD will conduct a formal review of all applications received through its portal, in line with official DAAD criteria.
