Ahmed Saheed Olaide, a student of the University of Ibadan and former president of the Association of Veterinary Medicine Students, has been named Veterinary Student of the Year 2025 by the World Veterinary Association (WVA).
The prestigious recognition comes as part of the WVA Global Veterinary Awards, which celebrates outstanding contributions in veterinary medicine worldwide.
In a congratulatory email, WVA Executive Manager Ms. Magda Lourenço confirmed Ahmed’s win, noting that his prize includes a cash award along with other valuable gifts.
As part of the honour, Ahmed is expected to travel to the United States to attend the World Veterinary Association Congress (WVAC) 2025 / AVMA Convention in Washington, D.C., where he will officially receive his award.
This achievement marks a proud moment not only for Ahmed but also for the University of Ibadan and the Nigerian veterinary community at large.
