The United States government has issued a renewed advisory to Nigerian students studying in American institutions, warning that non-compliance with visa regulations could result in the revocation of their student status and disqualification from future U.S. visas.

In an announcement shared on Monday via its official X (formerly Twitter) account, the U.S. Mission in Nigeria urged students to avoid actions such as dropping out, missing classes, or withdrawing from academic programs without proper communication with their schools.

The advisory stressed the importance of following all visa conditions to prevent immigration-related penalties. “If you drop out, skip classes, or leave your program of study without informing your school, your student visa may be revoked, and you may lose eligibility for future U.S. visas,” the statement warned. “Always adhere to the terms of your visa and maintain your student status to avoid any issues.”

This caution comes after a previous alert from the U.S. government highlighting that individuals involved in visa fraud or illegal migration could face criminal charges and be permanently barred from entering the country.

The U.S. Mission added that the government is intensifying interagency efforts to combat immigration fraud and strengthen border security.
