Kenechukwu Azuike of St. Gregory’s College, Lagos, and Peace Adewole of Welkins International School, Ota, Ogun State, have emerged overall winners of the 2025 Cowbellpedia Secondary Schools Mathematics Quiz Competition.

Kenechukwu clinched the top spot in the senior school category, while Peace led the junior category. Both winners were awarded ₦5 million each and an all-expenses-paid trip to Kenya. Their respective schools also received multimedia projectors in recognition of their outstanding performance.

The Cowbellpedia competition, which originated in 1998 as the Cowbell National Secondary School Mathematics Competition (NASSMAC), is organised and sponsored by Promasidor Nigeria Limited, makers of Cowbell Milk. It seeks to foster interest in STEM subjects, particularly mathematics, among secondary school students across the country.

During the grand finale and prize presentation, Francois Gillet, Managing Director of Promasidor Nigeria, praised the students for their enthusiasm and mathematical skills. He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to enhancing STEM education and empowering Nigerian youths.

Marketing Director Adebola Williams shared insights into the 14-week-long competition, noting that over 5,000 students aged 11 to 17 participated in the preliminary computer-based test. After several elimination rounds, the final stage featured just eight contestants.

In the senior category, Fopefoluwa Adegboye, Prince Orji, and Lyon Awhaisoba placed second, third, and fourth, winning ₦3 million, ₦2 million, and ₦500,000, respectively. In the junior category, Haruna Salvin, Onyema Alexis, and Anyaeji Arthur secured the same ranks with identical prize amounts.

The teachers of the two overall winners—Mr. Bayode Samuel (senior) and Mr. Stephen Egbeyemi (junior)—each received ₦1 million and a laptop. Additionally, two parents, Beckley Adebayo and Remi Adegboye, were awarded ₦500,000 each for excelling in a special parent quiz segment.

Quizmaster Ebuka Obi-Uchendu commended the students for their speed and resilience, noting a marked improvement in mathematical proficiency compared to previous years. He encouraged them to continue prioritising their studies.
