Tony Echono, Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), has expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu’s administration for the prompt approval of funds for the development of tertiary education. Echono made the remarks during the 2025 TETFund management retreat in Yola, themed “Advancing TETFund Mandate For Efficient Service Delivery In Beneficiary Institutions,” held on Thursday.
He noted that under President Tinubu, funds for tertiary institutions across the country have been approved without delay. “As I am speaking, even the 2026 intervention guidelines have been approved by Mr President, so we are ready to hit the ground running. That is why we are here to work out a strategy for effective implementation,” Echono stated.
Ibrahim Umar, Vice-Chancellor of Modibbo Adama University (MAU), Yola, commended TETFund for its continuous support to beneficiary institutions, noting that without TETFund intervention, many institutions would have faced collapse. He further appealed for assistance in addressing road network deficiencies and security challenges, particularly the kidnapping of lecturers.
Similarly, Mohammed Dagereji, Provost of the Federal College of Education (FEC), Yola, thanked TETFund for its interventions and requested additional support in the areas of security, power, and internet services. Augustine Clement, Vice-Chancellor of Adamawa State University, also lauded TETFund’s management for organising the retreat and assured that the allocated funds would continue to be used judiciously.
During the visit, the Executive Secretary inaugurated several TETFund projects at Modibbo Adama University, further underlining the agency’s commitment to enhancing the quality of tertiary education in Nigeria.
