A man believed to be a 300-level Agricultural Engineering student of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Ridwan Oladipupo, has been found murdered under mysterious circumstances in Ogbomoso.
Oladipupo was said to have left his off-campus residence on Lawyer Ahmed Street on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, reportedly heading to the university campus to study. Tragically, his lifeless body was later discovered the following day, Wednesday, June 25, in front of Nurudeen Grammar School, located along Under-G Road in the city.
In an official statement released by LAUTECH’s Registrar, Mrs. Olayinka Balogun, the university disclosed that it had not received any formal confirmation verifying the deceased as a registered student of the institution. According to the statement, the school only became aware of the incident informally.
The Acting Dean of Student Affairs was contacted by the Divisional Police Officer of the Owode Division regarding the discovery of the corpse. Despite efforts by the police and university officials to identify the body, neither students nor nearby residents were able to confirm the victim’s identity at the time.
The body was subsequently transferred to the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital Mortuary. It was not until Sunday, June 29, that the deceased’s father, accompanied by a police officer, visited the hostel where Oladipupo had been staying. Hostel residents were reportedly questioned during the visit.
Despite these developments, the university maintains that no official report has been submitted to confirm the student’s identity. “As of now, there is still no formal representation before the university,” the statement read.
LAUTECH further stated that the case is being handled by the Owode Division of the Nigeria Police Force and emphasized that it would refrain from making further comments to avoid interfering with ongoing investigations.
