The Presidency has restated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s resolve to fulfil all commitments made to Nigerian students, noting that additional reforms, opportunities, and people-focused policies are being rolled out to strengthen the education sector, empower young people, and secure a brighter future for the country.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Students’ Engagement, Hon. Sunday Asefon, gave this assurance in his New Year message to Nigerian students on Thursday, emphasizing that the Tinubu administration places strong priority on the welfare and development of students nationwide.

Asefon highlighted key initiatives introduced by the government, including the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which he said has so far provided interest-free loans to over 788,000 students, alongside stipends totaling more than ₦150 billion since its establishment. He also referenced the Federal Government’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training programme, which has equipped hundreds of students and young Nigerians with practical skills aimed at closing the nation’s skills gap and promoting self-reliance and job creation.

Commending Nigerian students for their resilience, patriotism, and optimism, Asefon described them as central to the country’s progress and a major force behind innovation, leadership, and national development.

He expressed gratitude to students for their steadfast belief in Nigeria’s future and assured them that the Renewed Hope administration remains committed to sustained engagement, advocacy, and collaboration to ensure students’ voices are heard and their aspirations supported.

According to him, as the country moves into 2026, the government remains focused on delivering tangible progress, expanding opportunities, and strengthening policies that will advance education and youth empowerment for the benefit of all Nigerians.
