The Executive Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Engr. Akeem Olatunji, has launched free Computer Based Test (CBT) training for more than 750 SS3 students in public schools as part of preparations for the 2026 WAEC examination.

The initiative fulfills one of his electoral promises, aimed at improving access to quality education and strengthening digital literacy among residents at the grassroots. The training began on Monday, December 8, at Methodist High School, Toll Gate, where students arrived with a mix of curiosity and determination.

With WAEC set to fully transition to CBT in 2026, the programme provides many students with their first structured introduction to the format. Olatunji described the initiative as a practical step toward boosting digital competence, stressing that students must not be left behind at a time when examinations, workplaces, and daily activities increasingly depend on technology.

He explained that the sessions were designed to build confidence and reduce the anxiety associated with unfamiliar digital platforms. “The move fits into Governor Seyi Makinde’s drive to expand access to quality education and modern learning tools across Oyo State,” he said, noting that Oluyole Local Government has consistently aligned its educational goals with that vision to give public school students a fairer chance.

Schools present at the flag-off included Olunde Community Secondary School, Jogbin; Ayegun Community Grammar School, Ayegun; Prospect High School, Abanla; Faruku Community Grammar School, Soka; and the host school, Methodist High School, Toll Gate.

The training continues daily at 9 a.m. until Friday. Olatunji expressed hope that by the end of the week, each participant would leave with not only digital skills but also renewed confidence as they prepare for a new era of WAEC examinations.

Teachers and students who attended the flag-off described the initiative as timely and commendable, praising the chairman for prioritising the welfare of all residents, including the less privileged. They pledged to make the most of the opportunity to ensure strong performance in the 2026 examination.
