Former Minister of Education, Obiageli Ezekwesili, has cautioned the leadership of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) against hastily scheduling a resit examination for candidates affected by errors in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results.

In a post on X, Ezekwesili questioned JAMB’s decision to hold the resit just 24 hours after the board acknowledged that technical glitches had compromised the accuracy of the exam results. She asked, “Are affected candidates truly expected to retake their JAMB Examination tomorrow?”

Highlighting concerns raised by candidates, she noted that many were distressed by the lack of adequate notice from JAMB. The former minister called on the examination board to rethink the timing and approach to avoid unnecessary pressure on students.

Ezekwesili emphasized that the situation demands careful and strategic planning to prevent a recurrence of such issues. “The affected candidates are so deserving of our empathy,” she said.
