Nigerian students have been cautioned to remain vigilant against scammers impersonating admissions officers on Facebook and offering fraudulent access to nursing school admissions.

In a public disclaimer released on March 23, 2025, the Nursing World Community—a professional platform for Nigerian nurses—warned that individuals using the names “Dr. Mrs. Judith” and “Dr. Mrs. Felicia” are fraudsters with no official ties to any accredited institution.

The disclaimer highlights a particular Facebook post claiming that “Dr. Mrs. Judith” can assist applicants in securing admission into the Tombia School of Nursing under the Bayelsa College of Medicine. The post falsely advertises that the 2025/2026 application form is available and provides a phone number for inquiries: 09162993014.

Another similar post promotes “Dr. Mrs. Felicia” as an admissions contact for the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH). However, investigations revealed that admissions at LUTH are currently closed, and no individual by that name is officially affiliated with the institution.

Further checks into these individuals revealed that the scam is not new. “Dr. Mrs. Judith” has reportedly been making such claims since 2022, often changing contact numbers while maintaining a fake identity as an office administrator. Efforts to verify her phone number on the Bayelsa College of Medicine’s official website yielded no results, further confirming the scam.

The Nursing World Community emphasized that neither “Dr. Judith” nor “Dr. Felicia” are authorized to conduct admissions for any school of nursing and urged the public to avoid interacting with the following phone numbers linked to the fraud: 08132728112, 08068831129, and 09162993014.

“This individual is a fraudster engaging in criminal activities to exploit innocent applicants,” the statement read. “We strongly urge the public to ignore any calls, texts, or social media posts from these numbers. Do not make payments or disclose personal information.”

Prospective students are advised to rely solely on official school websites for admission information. Legitimate institutions typically provide contact details for inquiries, either via phone or a designated email address. For instance, the Lagos University Teaching Hospital directs all questions to its official admissions email: [email protected].

Students are encouraged to cross-check any admission offers with the relevant institution before taking any action, especially when dealing with unofficial social media posts.
