NELFUND Warns Students Against Fake Student Loan Portal

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has cautioned students and the general public to beware of a fake portal and fraudulent messages currently circulating online, warning that the scheme has only one official website.

In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja, Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, Director of Strategic Communications at NELFUND, described the circulating information as misleading and urged Nigerians not to fall victim to the scam.

“The attention of NELFUND has been drawn to a fraudulent message currently circulating online, falsely claiming that President Bola Tinubu has directed the reopening of the NELFUND Student Loan portal,” Oluwatuyi said.

She explained that the fake message includes a link to a counterfeit website, https://nelfund-student-loan-2025.po-rt-al.com/NELFUND/, which is not associated with the fund.

“We wish to categorically state that this website is FAKE, and the information contained in the message is false and misleading,” she emphasized.

Oluwatuyi stressed that the only official portal for the NELFUND Student Loan Application remains https://nelf.gov.ng.

She urged students, parents, and guardians to avoid clicking on unverified links and to never submit personal or financial details on suspicious websites.

Reaffirming NELFUND’s commitment to transparency and security, she assured the public that all official announcements would always be made through verified channels.

She further appealed to students to report any suspicious websites or messages to the fund via email at [email protected] and encouraged them to follow NELFUND’s official social media handles for authentic updates:
